Sosiani is located 340km from Nairobi, 20km West of Eldoret town in Kaptinga village, Uasin Gishu County . It is a run-of-river station drawing water for generation from River Sosiani which originates from Kaptagat Forest and runs through the Uasin Gishu plateau. The station was formerly called Selby Station after its white settler owner and is the only station in the country with a Pelton turbine. Water for generation is drawn from Sosiani River to the Station through a penstock of 96m length and 1m diameter. The plant has a head of 40m.
